Very good Paul. It's to track the rotor horizontal plane during rotor tuning. Different coloured slow drying paint would be applied to the blade leading edge tip and the fabric tape advanced into the rotor disc until contact was made. If the colours don't line up the maintenance crews could tell which blade pitch change link needed adjustment. Thankfully I never had to do this instead having the benefit of a rotortune kit using accelerometers, targets and sensors - fitting the kit could be time consuming though.

This was a rare model. I can't remember ever seeing one. I owned several 50 Olds 88s & business coupes & should have nailed this one anyhow. PauE
