cockpit dash done. Not hugely happy with it but it looks ok.

I took one of the numbers from the decal sheet and placed it in the cockpit to mimic a bay number for pits.

Not particularly happy at the moment. One of the large decals that cover the rear arch cover a large blue decal split as soon as it got wet and started disintegrating as I put it on. And the rear wing decals don't fully cover the white areas which doesn't look particularly accurate. Only thing that does look accurate is I cut out the wing brace at the back and in the kit it's covered by the decal but in real life it's exposed and is metal. I did some racing marks on the tyres which look good though.

Now now sure what to do.

I'm very disappointed. The large decals just break up and disintegrate when I apply them. So I'm binning the decals all togther just using the small nissan badge and going to an unliveried version in blue.
That looks absolutely stunning Marc. I really like it without the large decals.

Okay so I think I'm feeling a little better. Just done the 1st coats going to let them degas and will rub down over the weekend and see if it needs a second coat. Then gloss up and ready for minimal decals. Just going to use the white nissan badges and that's about It.

Really loosing interest in this build now. Just want to get it finished. Also I'm a little fed up with the quality of humbrol enamels. Plus they are smelly and a pain to clean. I might finish the model and chuck my enamels away and go to acrylic.

Looks good to me Marc. Don't throw the enamels away, even if you convert to acrylics they will keep for decades and would be useful for small detail painting.

Well, that blue looks nice and smooth and gives a nice depth to the finish.

This looks really good so far. No wonder you are disappointed with the decals. I had the same happen with some of mine. I used really really hot water in the end and saved nearly all of them. I could not get them working with warm water at first No matter how I tried.

I'm sure you will be happy with the end result.

agree not to throw out the paints. There will always be a use for them. The Tamiya acrylics spray great. I have also bought some zero paints and although I haven't tried the base colours yet the clear coat is excellent.
