Well if your painting skill is anything to go by, I have every faith in you I wouldn’t say I’m much good at it but I certainly enjoy the small bits I’ve made over the years...as long as you enjoy yourself then who cares

The upside is that it will be inside a cab with small windows, so if it doesn’t really come out right, it will be hard to see anyway

I have some days off later this week so hopefully I can get back on track with this build, and finish my other. Two more kits on their way to me so need to clear some room.

Test fitted the cab today and came across a hiccup, but managed to resolve it.

There are two support arms going from the cab floor to the chassis - they couldn't get around the engine! I searched backwards and forwards through the instructions to make sure I'd put everything in the correct place, then came across a small inset diagram. It showed the two support arms I mention but they were a completely different shape. I'm not sure if that's how they were supposed to look or if the diagram was trying to indicate that they should be modified that way but it certainly didn't say so or have the cut/trim icon that appears in other places.

Anyway, I figured that was the only way to get the cab to fit so set about them with a dremel. Here's the slimmed down version on the left compared to the original



It's pretty flimsy now as it's less than half the thickness it was.

And here's a poor shot of them in place. You can see how they now fit around the engine, whereas before they just splayed out around it distorting the cab floor.

Often a problem on here , think you've done a great save there Andy.

I can't even remember the last time I wrote a cheque John but if I find my book anywhere I'll send one straight off

A bit more work this afternoon. I've been saving the textured foil from my porridge pots in case it came in handy, and figured it might make a reasonable looking headlining for the cab.



And here with some primer on, along with some other parts including the PE mesh walkways



I mentioned about the cab being empty so decided to give the driver a nice bunk to rest on after a hard days graft. Here's the basic size of it (scaled roughly to the seats) with a comfy pillow (Milliput) and a couple of nice warm blankets (masking tape)



Still plenty of work to do on those but it's a start.

Cheers Paul. Toying with ideas of what to make a mattress from now. I have some very thin foam so I'll be seeing how that looks and whether it will take paint. Got to keep the troops happy!

I’d just make it from plastic card — it’s basically a rectangular slab with rounded corners and edges, right? It’s a simple matter to cut that and scrape the edges to smooth them off.

I often overlook the simple solutions at first, but yes, I'm already on with doing it that way
