Don't know which one you are referring to Dzohn. The heavy & medium cranes both work, but the track cleaning car was a PITA, always derailing. Spent more time on the ground than on the rails so was converted to the medium crane (yellow) tender (orange). PaulE
No Dzohn, it's a Trident Models Chevy Blazer I gussied up to look like a Conrail Safety Patrol vehicle. I've added antennae, gumball light, decals & a Details West Hy-Rail guide wheel kit. Somewhere I have a yellow maint inspection Chevy Suburban w/similar mods but w/heavier duty Details West Hy-Rail kit. I have a Jeep Station Wagon that used to work, but haven't run across it in a while. Cave temp is up to 47F, still too chilly to work very long. My hands get too cold. Started the "dig-out". PaulE

Back in the cave as it's now over 55F. Converting rolling stock to steel wheels where I have the correct size in the stash, adjusting truck & coupler heights, adding building signage & repairing odds'n'ends. Dull stuff, but I need the metal wheelsets for the low rolling friction. PaulE

Thanks guys. Not much more boring than polishing wheel treads by hand, but will stay cleaner & roll better. Old HO scale rule of thumb was 36" wheels for tank cars, covered hoppers & else w/capy. of 100 tons or more, 28" for most well & spine cars & 33" for most others. Many older ready to run & shake the box car makers use 33" for most everything. Modern premium makers are much more accurate including knuckle couplers & appropriate size metal wheels. PaulE

While looking for rail wheels for Jeep, found 80s pics of layout taken just before breakdown to move to Atlanta. This was last time it ran fully wired, but w/o scenery at the 5 year mark, 5'x18'. Very little hobby time as I had been renovating this 3400 square foot 1870s home. Finished on Friday, married away my daughter on Saturday, opened gifts & packed on Sunday, moved to Atlanta on Monday.
I did find some wheels for the Jeep. 28" HO metal wheel set. Reversed body on frame for better fit. I may not use light as it might melt the body.

That was a busy few days mate.
Ubetcha! Minor panic finishing up first floor bathroom Friday as anticipating 65 to 70 guests for the in-house wedding & reception Saturday. Thankfully the company paid for the packing up & move, so just supervising on Monday. PaulE
