Heres the Kovozavody Prostejov ( hereafter - KP!) 1/72 Fouga Magister. This is a rebox of the Valom tooling with different decals and without the PE and resin . Its a nice looking kit of the handsome magister and features recessed panel lines and nice details . Im going to do the French version with the tiger tail .
The cockpit is quite nicely detailed but there are a couple of problems straightaway. The front pilots seat has two oxygen bottles (?) either side of it , one of these is missing so I had to make another from plastic rod . The other thing is ,although the instructions show decals for the instrument panels there arent any on the decal sheet. I’ll have to use some generic ones from the spares box .The seat belt decals are present and will be fine under the closed canopy .0F9E1DD4-A193-4F86-B6A9-551EA179791A.jpeg578FEB66-07F2-44F6-AF23-5C139BCBBF1E.jpeg242A4519-0BD0-4CA2-B0ED-AD1B91E35A41.jpeg05A3F12E-A0C8-4A4D-9B66-C062F94AA174.jpeg0CF1C081-A3E7-415E-A752-89FA79382097.jpeg4CCB0D97-1429-49E0-9D76-9EB023D0643D.jpeg53448DA6-E1BB-4DE5-8782-B93EB75E4976.jpeg61EBB1DB-A926-4718-8A8D-1D78D279F090.jpeg

Hmm,yes,a bit odd....
..... but rather appealing to my mind. ;)
Im with you andy , i think its a great looking aircraft , they actually developed the design from a glider , the Fouga cm8 , hence the long high aspect ratio wings , the glider even had a V tail too.
Very successful aircraft as well , used by the Patrouille de France for years and serving with 20 different air forces !

No decal for the tiger stripes then? I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not! I'm sure you'll do a great job of painting the tail.

That does explain a lot of things, especially the really short undercarriage that makes it sit so oddly on the ground.

Didn't you make a Magister some years ago Tony? No arguments about another one though, I like the looks of it. Watching with interest.

Indeed I did dave ( well two actually , one of these and a MILES magister !) I”ll get a pic of it for you , it was done in a one off german air force scheme - bright yellow allover!

Bit more done to the Fouga today . The cockpit is typical sixties , any colour you like as long as its black ! Luckily theres a bit of colour interest with the seats . These were a brown colour almost like bakelite , with brown leather cushions and blue seat harnesses ( supplied on the decal sheet , fine for a closed canopy)
The problem of the missing instrument decals was sorted by using some self adhesive paper ones , I used some meant for a Harvard , again close enough under a closed lid .54A548C8-F264-4F95-AD23-693A370C0FBF.jpeg7FC8E9D9-1BA7-435D-9E6A-C3DF3D9930E5.jpeg

Decal belts added and the seats , instrument panels and control columns have all been fitted to the cockpit tub. The black areas have all had a dry brush with light grey to emphasise the detail a bit . Its far from perfect but its not going to be seen much once the canopy goes on .497EC5D0-E4A0-4B37-8AF7-C88AAC786BAF.jpeg839D39F4-03A5-4558-9AA8-D8540A0FAB6C.jpeg
