Not sure where this one fits in the sections, armoured - yes, artillery - yes, missile - yes, so put it here....
Had this one for few months now lingering in the shed, big box kept getting in the way....

Nice colour schemes to go with it..
20210818_135547.jpg
20210818_135557.jpg
Loads of bits in the box 1,000+...
20210818_140012.jpg
Added some brass to go with it...
20210818_135349.jpg
And a set of resin wheels/tyres.... with my catwalk model to display the size comparrison....
20210818_135813.jpg
And so onto the build - this starts with the chassis, and I will admit that this had already been started so that I could get it square, and today I added most of the interior items, with still more to go....
20210818_135459.jpg
Chassis joined...
20210818_140213.jpg
And can be left seperated to aid additional work. I am a bit further on with this part of the build which takes up 13 sections of the instructions and that does not include the suspension....
More later
Mike.

Mike,
that's a lot of bits! I have the aging Dragon model in the stash, and it looks rudimentary in comparison! The 1/72 Toxso Scud I made had almost as many parts as the Dragon - just a reflection on how simple it is.
What camo finish are you going for? - or is it going to be a pristine parade vehicle?

Hello Dave,
Just to prove how many parts - I labelled the sprues with masking tape and their i/d letters to identify the sprue I wanted to save scrabbling constantly through and through.
The finish will be Russian green with some weathering, to do otherwise would have JR camping out on my doorstep... and even wrapping his sandwiches in a road map did not give hime the hint....;)
I did look at the Dragon kit, and read/watch reviews on it before I purchased this one. The problem comes with where do you put it after it is finished....
Mike.

Hi Mike
I'll enjoy watching this come together. I may have missed it but who makes this kit?

This one is Trumpeter, but Dragon also produced a slightly inferior one.
I built that one about 20 or 25 years ago, I guess. It was good for its day, especially because … well, it’s a real eye-catcher. But I remember it not being a great kit to build. I haven’t seen anything of the Trumpeter version other than what’s in your pictures, but I’m going to guess it’ll be a better kit, though probably about the same difficulty to build if it’s of Trumpeter’s usual quality.

Sensible update,
The chassis in now almost complete and in primer apart from the suspension which is today's object....
20210819_134849.jpg
The engine also now in the same primer...
20210820_101240.jpg
And ready for paint.
The fans required some cleaning up to get rid of some strange flash that was between the blades...
20210819_151642.jpg
Left one was before and right one was nearly finished. Rubbed down with a bit of folded P220 wet and dry and then a thin touch of liquid cement to bring back the smooth finish.
More later,
Mike.
