So being so long since I did anything to this post I thought I'd make some progress to post about.
The issue with the canopy killed any drive I had for this project however I think it is salvageable so am continuing.

Bits of the body are together, the fit is dreadful. Ever joint will need filling and sanding extensively but this will be good as it's something I'm very bad at and need to practice. Any tips are welcomed!

Done the intakes white (over black undercoat to give it some depth and texture) and will put top half on today.

Managed to break one ejector seat handle which I will need to remake from scratch up never mind.

Funny that's a question going through my head as I was inspecting it this morning while taking a break from house work.

It almost met a violent end under a hammer though I resisted. The fit is appalling to put it mildly. This could be my poor construction or the age of the thing I would put this kit at 20 years old, maybe more.

Anyway gaps are bad and a lot of filler is needed. I am crap at this but suppose I can only get better trying.

I will post pics tonight.

Just want it done and gone and then I can move on to something I want to do.

Not always Chris. The Tamiya Mosquito I built for the mossy group build last year had quite a few fit issues as well. This is looking good despite the issues though.

That doesn’t look good — I would have expected much better from Tamiya.

So there's been a long break. I looked the other day and the fitting is so bad I almost reached for a hammer to put it out of its misery. However I persevered and used a LOT of filler to get to the below photos.
Hopefully going to put the other bits on this morning and maybe have it ready to be sprayed over the weekend on Sunday if I have a little time.

Yeah I guess, easy to get down about it when it's that bad though. Hoping to have a really good few hours as I've kept next week free apart from Friday.

This kit certainly seems to be showing it's age with all that filler

If it turns out anywhere near as good as that excellent cockpit it'll all be worth it though.
