Hi all,
I’m still awaiting the replacement arm so I thought I’d crack on with the base...
I used a mixture of PVA and tissue paper to create a rough shape for the landscape...
I then used some dirt from the garden which I microwaved dry and made finer with a mort and pestle and the seived out the bigger bits.... the fine dirt was then mixed with more PVA and laid on top....
from there I added a bit of vegetation and there’s still rocks and small stones to add and the spaces in the dirt will be puddles....so that’s it for now but here’s a pic showing the position of the jeep...
Thanks for looking in!
Jason
Thanks Scottie,
Cheers John!
This will be my first experiment with water effects so I’m not sure how it will turn out.... there’s also lots of debris to be added and I will probably get out the cigarette paper to have a few sheets of paper flying around To try to create the illusion of wind..???
this arrived in today’s post...I’m dead keen to start experimenting but even though it’s not even December I’ve been drafted into Christmas decoration duty!!!!
Thanks
Jason
First layer of puddles in place... I think I may have gone a bit overboard but I can always dry it out a little as it’s a bit of a quagmire at the moment...now I’ve just got to let it set! I
I’m going to apply a clear layer over the top of the deeper puddles and more papers and leaves will be added at that point.
Thanks
Jason
Cheers chaps... very much appreciated.... Andy, I do take your point regarding contrast in the puddles so I added the final layer in a lighter shade....finally a few leaves and some papers which need a bit of “dirtying”...
I took a couple of shots at “ground level” to try to show what I,m trying to do with the sheets of paper flying around???
Thanks for looking in and for the pointers/ advice!
Jason
Great stuff Jason. The edition of the sheets of papers really works and is so you. Like the birch seed leaves as well - I managed to collect a pocketful this year.
Thanks Scottie, I think Andy suggestion re the puddles has been an improvement
Thanks Peter.. you’re right I have used the bits of paper flying around in a few of my models... I think the inspiration came from this scene in the film “Downfall”...although I won’t be adding this many sheets!
Thanks
Jason
Apologies for being behind on this. Loving the figure and the base really is something else. How did you find the Vallejo water texture to work with? What's the drying time like in it?
Hi Andrew,
the water texture was surprisingly easy... there's a quick tutorial on u tube but basically you just add a drop of paint for the desired colour and then apply... I dabbed it on with a coffee stirrer and then use gravity to get it to settle where you want to... I was only using a relatively small amount so the drying time was pretty quick... maybe an hour or so... I will definitely find an excuse to use it again at some point!
Cheers Steve... looks like I might be getting near to finished on this one?
Thanks
Jason,.
