Just catching up with this Tim , been away for a week so missed a lot of stuff . Good to hear your RA has improved and youre feeling a bit better , as for the build - the cockpit is sublime , and the airframe is getting there too , its going to look great in the paint , cheers tony

Cheers Tony. Very kind of you. Hope I don’t disappoint with the paint now :tongue-out3:

Well, we’ve been priming…..and then had a nasty sunken seam on the top of the fuselage.

Filled with Mr dissolved putty 1200……and wet sanded.

Much better……

Also had trouble with the fit of the canopy…..

Same filler, not such good results though. Bit more work, and……

That’s as good as it can get……

Worked through the pre shade next.

Found it quite hard to work on this beast in my spray booth. This is probably as big as I can build, which is a bit of a shame because I’ve got a couple of slightly larger kits in the stash….they might have to be summer builds sprayed in the garage….

All comments welcome….

Well the primer look nice and flat. Nice work on the post shade as well!

Nice progress Tim, seam lines are my true nemesis :hungry:
Me too Mick. This one had them all over the place. Definitely not Tamiya’s finest moment ;) Mind you, I think some of it is down to the AK filler I have. Its very wet and seems to shrink back for ages.

Looks like it Rick. Not sure how the 1/32 guys cope to be honest…….I even found it hard to hold it up while spraying……
As to putty work, sanding wet with ever finer grades of paper is the secret. That and keeping the paper on a hard backing so it only cuts the high spots down.

Glad the primer didn't show up too much needing attention. There's usually something though, often around the canopy as in your case. All looks nice and smooth now. Good luck with the pre-shade.

Cheers Jim. Pre shade went well…..next problem is to get the colours on without obliterating it ;)

"Had trouble with the fit of the canopy"....
Know EXACTLY what you mean there Tim.... Thought it was just me!!
My camo masks also need some "adjustments".... But that's easily doable....
... These things, combined, have made me take a step back from the build and concentrate on my Half-track....
But I'll be getting back to my Mossie asap :smiling3:
As always Tim,it's great to follow your progress!

Looking good Tim, despite the problems you had with the fit.

Preshade in particular looks very good!

Cheers Andy. Glad it’s not just me as well. For a Tamiya kit, the fit to me is actually relatively poor. Perhaps we are overdue a new tool mosquito from someone. This one is getting a little long in the tooth.

Thanks Andrew. Still not really sure how many of the fit issues are down to me and how many down to the kit itself…..
