thats the hardest thing i find to do is a good wood affect look forward to seeing how you do it

OK Folk's here we go.


All done with oil's.


The first thing I did was to give a wash of Burnt Umber over all the wooden parts I then put dots of Yellow Ochre and Mars Orange on to this(pics 1and 2).All of this was then wiped off with a sponge to leave a stain.(you can see the stain on the right side of pic 3)


The next thing I did was to put burnt umber over the wooden parts and again added dots of yellow ochre and mars orange(pic 3).This again was wiped off,but leaving more of the oil on the model.


I then added dots of yellow ochre,mars orange and titanium white,these were then wiped with an hogs hair brush following the grain of the wood.(pic 4 and 5 show what it looks like after wiping).


The next thing I did was to add shading with lamp black around all the raised areas and edges.this was then blended.(pic 6,7 and 8).

stunning work Ralph,looks great and has that nice old aged effect,


do real like your technique,of doing,it, :smiling3:


so is the lamp black,a not so real harsh black as black,but but more in the blue/black


range of colors,:rolleyes:
