Got the human figures painted (blue helmets are for ID):

No problem as long as you don't insist on perfection - although it does take a lot of colours:

I also used a UniPosca Silver pen for the goggles.

Had a quick play around last night with the APC and figures on the baseboard I'm using for the dio. I've only got room for five Bugs so that cuts down a bit on the painting. I've done the yellow/black main colours - just the Red on their backs, a bit of pimping with a posca pen and some blue stripes to do.

Thanks folks.

Scott - there's nothing in there that's worth anything to anyone else I'm afraid!

Got the base started. I've used the same techniques here as I did on my first bug build.

6mm MDF board covered with 15mm insulating foam. I bashed the foam around with a hammer and the handle of a spoon and used a pipette to squirt a little cellulose thinner in spots to create dips and hollows. It was painted all over with ordinary household emulsion.

Raised bits are either moulded 'rocks' or just random daubs of plaster-of-Paris. Green bits are scenic flock and the taller reeds are paint brush bristles from a cheap brush sprayed green (Trust me to want to paint the bristles on a brush rather than clean the paint off!).

The straight lines are where my PVA/water mixture ran when I upended the board to shake off the excess flock.

I'll be 'bedding in' the figure bases onto a generous layer of PVA. If I paint PVA around their feet and cover them and the surrounding PVA with flock I should be able to hide the bases without it seeming they're all standing on little mounds - I hope.

The big bare patch in the middle is where I'll be putting the ATC.
