Thanks boys.... :thumb2:

Mick, can I join your club please?

I've just finished 'Brush Head' Kolinski.

Here he is with the French Broad's shopping bag.

Apart from the shoulder flashes etc., here are the three Paratroopers.

Trump, Bilko and Kolinski

I need a break from figures, so I'm going to have me a thunk and start building me up to building buildings.

By the way, the Grebe said he isn't afraid of a bunch of Squaddies showing up on his patch!

Cheers.

570 I was slightly concerned when I quickly read " dry filler powder. Paper gun "
Oh dear I thought he's lost it completely, mistakenly read the above as "DRY GUNPOWDER "

Carry on.

Cheers boys.

I've started drawing out the building plans for the mill. They will be something like those wonderful wonky looking Normandy timber structures.

The paper template.
P1230940.JPG

Timber and stonework scribed on to some foam board with a scalpel. Then the openings cut out.
P1230941.JPG

Wheel loose fitted to make sure it looks in proportion.
P1230943.JPG

I've raised the timber detail - or sunk in the render, whichever way you look at it. Then slurried some grey paint all over it to bring out the detail.

Thanks boys.
I've added a bit more detail and started to paint the front of the mill building. The door is made from the original cut out piece of board from door opening, scribed to look old and gnarled, then recessed into the door frame. I've also added a piece of broken glass to the small window. The vertical wooden slats are roughly shaped cocktail sticks.

Thanks Jim.
I do enjoy trying to design buildings. My waste paper bin can testify to the "Trying" side of things!

One of the gable ends. I've added a bit of mesh to the window as a change from glass. The buildings will only have the front elevation of the roofs.

Here's the mill sections ready to be glued together. All looks a bit up and down at the minute.
P1230968.JPG

Just spotted I've missed a bit of woodwork...... :upside:

Cheers.

Paul and Tim, thank you.

I've glued together the mill building and added a blank back to it.
I've also darkened the half timbering to highlight it a bit more.

I also had a pleasant afternoon outside with my mate Mr. Sun, and made me a slate roof out of card for the mill too.
Up and down - Rough as you like.... :thumb2:

Once I've fixed the above building in place I'll be able to see how much space I have for another.

Cheers.

Slate roof looks good, is it overlapped indented rows?

Hi Tim. Yes, indeedy.

I've beefed up the wheel by adding 'Metal' plates here and there.

Here's a tip if you have to join a length of wall.
Cut in as below. Then when glued up the join is less noticeable and avoids what would be a straight vertical line.

...loose fitted.

Hi Ron
Having seen the photos of your beautiful garden I reckon sitting there with a glass or two cutting slates ain't a bad way to spend an hour or two. Roof looks good as does the reinforced wheel.

Thanks for the compliments chaps. Much appreciated. They keep me going!

Update...
Roof added, along with ridge tiles. I've finished off the roof timber work by adding full spars either end and false spars under the roof overhang.
P1240040.JPG

P1240041.JPG

I might yet add a bit more half timber work to the upper gable. It somehow looks a bit naked nude, doesn't it?
P1240048.JPG

The wheel loose fitted. I'll do some serious weathering in the area of the wheel before I finally fix the thing.
P1240046.JPG

Now this building is more or less completed, I can weigh up what else I can squeeze in on that side of the water.

Time for a gargle and get my thunkin' hat on..... :upside::thumb2:

Cheers all and thanks again.

Ron
