Just been catching up. That is an impressive cockpit.
Hope the eye is ok by now.

Another quick session, these acrylic lacquers do make things a bit quicker, ocean grey sprayed, masked, dark green sprayed and masks removed in under an hour.

I used the top notch masks, and yes they saved a bit of time compared to my usual frisk film technique, and have given me a a better insight on laying up the frisk film in future I'm not sure if I'll use them again. (Though I will as I have another set.)
They can be reused with care taken, though I cut a couple as the flaps aren't attached yet.

Just a few bits to fix on the underside and then a gloss coat and decals.

Well that's night and day.
I had issues with Humbrols Clear Coat, which I bought thinking it was the old clear coat which was solvent based and not this new stuff that appears to be pee based.
It beaded up, which I fixed by wiping down with a thinners soaked cloth, and then got a chalky finish once it had dried.
So of to a model shop in Dublin and I picked up a couple of jars of Tamiyas gloss lacquer. (Already had the thinners.)

Wow, it sprayed beautifully, lay down flat, dried to touch really quickly and is shiny. Would recommend.
The thing is now I can't face decaling tonight, I did 3 days worth of work today, so am a bit sore, 666 tests so a virtual cookie to the first to guess what album was on in the car on the way home.............

Went to start decaling and realised I forgotten the leading edge yellow stripes, so masked up, sprayed dark earth to even things out and then a squirt of yellow.

And while the yellow was in the airbrush the prop tips got done too.

Sometimes wonder why we bother with stenciling, can just about read these ones.
Also hit the parts of the flaps that are exposed when down with some aluminium.

Looks good but I know what you mean...I stick to 1/72 and some of them are barely discernable for actual words!

Very neat Karl and a nice touch with the aluminium on the exposed edge.
