Don't you just hate it when that happens. Nice save though.

So today I managed to get a coat of ak acrylic primer on, it will probably get another coat once I've give a light sanding here an there and tidied up a few bits, very minor stuff. Also ,I nearly forgot before I primed it but fitted the etch intake grills where they should be .20220729_235021.jpg20220729_235147.jpg

Those grills look very nice. I admit that the kit ones look so bad I would rather leave them off.

All looking very good Mark. Masking is neat. Etch grills are a definite improvement.

They are an improvement, hopefully I won't knock em off.
Kind of thing I leave to the last moment. Paint and weather off the subject then put them on. I have pinged soooo many bits across the room handling a kit while painting or prepping .

Cheers Jim.

That's probably the ideal way but for me it's deciding if there's less chance of knocking them off or getting glue everywhere after it's painted,I think this was my best option lol.

A bit more progress made, I have got it the preshade done,I have used green to hopefully help add some colour variation in parts, black for what panel lines there are and also to add shadow to areas that may catch less light and white to highlight the larger flatter surfaces, fingers crossed when the paint goes on it'll work out 20220801_222347.jpg20220801_222229.jpg20220801_222155.jpg20220801_221721.jpg20220801_221629.jpg

Nicely done preshade. Once i get off the Spitfire I’ll start making progress on mine, and this is an idea I might nick. After all, there are far less panel lines on this bird than I’m used to….. ;)

I have got some medium sea grey on the underside, not quite got the preshade effect I was after, usually I use vallejo but got an ammo mig set for this didn't want it to cover to well so thinned about 3rd thinner and it still had very strong coverage! Preshade is still there ,my combination of lighting and inability to take a decent picture means it's not showing that well in pics, but it will do me.out with the masking tape tomorrow and I'll be starting on the top with some Ocean grey, maybe I'll thin 50+50 and see how that goes.
And yes I did forget to put the lights in the wings before gluing them up!:rolling::confounded:not a problem just a bit more sanding now.20220802_213842.jpg20220802_213432.jpg

Looking good Mark. You can always enhance the pre shade by airbrushing a lighter shade into the middle of the panels.
