Chris. No lights I'm afraid. When you find out your 'Tiger' is about to run aground on Goodwin Sands, can you give the crew of the lightship a bit of warning? Not for them to clear off out of the way in the rowing boats, but to give them time to make a heap of bacon sarnies for your crew

WELL Ron thats ok then  as i was goin to give them warning via a 6inch shell from my front gun turret to wake them up as they should be given me warning of the sands so i dont run aground as WOT NO LIGHT SCANDALOUSE but bacon sarnies well your crew are forgiven then lol:rolling:;):upside:

I believe he was Ron. Not surprising I can’t remember birthdays and phone numbers, my brain is full of rubbish!

Thanks to Chris and Tim for your input.

I've finished the building of the light thingy.

The walkway/platform.

The handrail is made of a single piece of moulded plastic. - I always paint freehand and the framework was a s*d to paint.

...fixed.

The actual light glass was even worse.

The 'bulb' can be seen better here.

I'm well happy to get this part of the build and painting behind me.

Mind you, the 'Zoom Merchants' can now have a field day, but I've done the best I can, so that will do me.

Cheers.

Thanks chaps. Good to see you're still hanging on in.

Oops! Forgot to mention in my last update, I found the red lines on the glass light on the top too fine a line to paint, so I painted some sewing thread red and when it dried, I glued the small lengths onto the clear plastic to make them look like the metal framework.

Ship's boats painted and glued in place. I ain't bothered about the mould marks as I have a master plan.....

Coming on VERY nicely indeed. And a great idea of painting the thread. Another one to squirrel away for future use.

I'll work overtime and cram this in to a quick finish now.

The Railings.

These are made from that soft plastic some figures are are made from.

I mentioned at the start of the build, there were quite a few missing parts, most of these I've quietly 'scratched' a replacement for and fitted to the model as I've gone along.

However, there was a piece of railing missing that was a bit tricky to replace. I made it out of plastic card and then rounded the section a tad.

All the other sections have to be bent in one length....Gently, Bentley!
P1280619.JPG

I made these identical - and then realized they should have been 'Handed' :upside:!
P1280620.JPG

Luckily I was able to bend one to the correct shape and hand too!.....
P1280621.JPG

This one for the top of the superstructure is a bit strange. It bends to make the stanchions kind'a offset. I thought I'd dropped another bol***k, but it is correct.

P1280623.JPG

I'll let the shapes roughly 'Set', then give them all a final bend, then straighten and tidy things up a bit.

Cheers.

No not paddling, 570 had arranged temporary seating on the beach to watch the build, but due to social distancing half of us ended up getting wet at high tide .
