Hi all
After finishing my HMS Victory and with the interruptions of Christmas and New year and an Ikea upgrade to the hobby room I decided to tackle something straightforward. I chose the Airfix 1/72 Focke-Wulf Fw190A-8. Not worth a full blog.

Tim, those munchkins are superb. You've put stripes on their trousers - now that's just showing off!

Here's my latest effort, a unit of Cave Dweller Savages. I'm pleased with them, and hope you folks like them. But they do rather highlight Tim's impressive freehand painting skills. I've put some warpaint on my savages (it's 'accurate' to give them a bit of woad, or I'd have left them in their ripplingly-muscled glory). It's meant to be a bit slap-dash and organic, but in places it's really not as neat as I'd like it. But just compare it to Tim's trousers () - those stripes are so sharp and regular! Hats off to you, Tim!

I had some left over putty and decided to plug the depression made by bad fitting on the Constipation gangways and stippled some wood grain. I will paint in the green flush against the yellow post. I repeated for the opposite side of the ship as well.

This landed on my doorstep by "accident" earlier this week, straight from Tamiya.
The tank crew is for the Sherman Fury model.
All the rest is extra with an eventual diorama already in mind.
At some point :p

I've already assembled a barrel and some jerry cans to practice painting/weathering.
First impressions of the Tamiya kit are very positive.
Only have Italeri to compare them to though.

That was my thought when I first built my Tamiya kit. They seem to build them selves. I’ve been hooked ever since.

Tamiya kits are generally very well-moulded and easy to assemble, but they skip over the finer details or mould them “closed” with no undercuts rather than supplying them as separate parts for better detail. Italeri usually provides more parts and fit is not quite as good, but it very much depends on how old the kit is: 1970s Italeri kits are typically better than 1990s Italeri, for example (odd as this may sound).

A bad workman blames his tools but this one's being a real swine. Got the rear suspension together but it nearly didn't happen.
Also, the spigots for mounting the wheels are too long & slightly undersized requiring a lot of tweaking & chocking whilst drying to get them all square.

I really want to like this kit and far be it from me as an averagely capable modeller to criticise ICM, but wow, that was hard work, and not all of it entirely necessary.

Anyway, hopefully it'll be a bit more of a pleasure from now on.

Started this about a month ago, but progress has been sporadic and I haven't taken very many pics along the way. Trumpeter's Armored L4500A with 3.7cm Flak 37. Have enjoyed this kit far more than their Sdkfz 7/1 kit. Here's where it sits at the moment.

I had some mayor fitting issues while building the DC-47 Italeri kit (will share pics soon) and that caused me some headaches.
It was on mayor parts even, not where you'd expect.
Did force me to start using Putty from the get go, which I found to be a nice material.
However still need to learn how to finish it smoothly.
