HI Rick you say you have POW under contruction could you please show your build on here as we'd love to see it an some full size piccies cheersI have the PoW under construction but I’m not using etched brass on mine as it’s the first ship I’ve ever built.
Watching with interest and taking notes as an option for any other ships I decide to build.
She's a lump alright, not a clue about the anchors, think Hood had 2 on st/board as well??NO MORE ? WOW though Bob m8ty she lookin a big bruiser in the box please show more shots of the hull from different angles an i wonder why these big battle wagon had two ankors on the strb side
Hi Paul, always found CA a pain, read about PVA in the ship building book I bought, seems to hold ok, give plenty of wiggle room, easy to get part off and clean up, I add a drop of water to it.Bob,
Really starting to look good. I have never thought of using PVA for etch.
Hi ChrisHI Bob m8ty did you cut off them horrible deck reels.? an fit the P/E ones ?

Not sure about addicted Ian maybe scared lol !! but can see why it's used, does make a big difference on some parts, so far, some of the moulded hatches are staying, as you say Ian not much difference.Coming along nicely Bob.
I can see that you are now addicted to PE detail for ships! Beware, some of it is not better than what it replaces. Most of the time it makes a great difference.
Ah! cable reels... Might want to look into this but I am pretty sure that they where covered while at sea and not in use...
Why do big boaty things often have two anchors on the starboard side and only one on the portside....The clue is in the names given to the side of the ship. .
Two anchors on the portside could get very much in the way when laid to port. Whereas being on the starboard (from stearboard) they could be chucked over if the need arose without landing on some poor dockers head.
Thank your dad for his service Roadie, he has my deep respect. As far as I know the Japanese surrender was on USS Missouri but KGV was anchored near by so your dad was part of a very historic occasion! Would luv to see his pic, wonderful to have!Being a newbie on the forum I’ve just found this thread.
The KGV is on my list at a later date.
My father was on the KGV from 1943-46. He was in Singapore on VJ Day, I do believe that something do do with the surrender of Japan happened on the ship, will investigate more on that. I’ve also asked him for all his photos of his time on board her. Unfortunately he got sent back to the UK with Pluersy and unfortunately got invalided out the RN.
But at 94 I might have to wait a while for them.
Thanks Jim, never had to do this with a StuG lol!Hi Bob
Coming on a treat. All credit to you for going the extra mile and trying new things. Can be exciting and rewarding but there are often some frustrations along the way.
Jim
