Nice start, the head looks just right and nice muted colour range on the "Mae West" too.

Awful weather here, the tail end of Dorian, but much better than the Bahamas!

Approaching 60 is a series of health checks, so it seems, had a lung check which was A1.

So looking forward to the bowel cancer check!

Pension check too, which is OK, so 60 will be retirement.

Hope your tummy bug has cleared up?

Have a good day with the RAF blue

Regards

Morning Steve

Those health checks sound scary, but sounds like you're passing with flying colours. My own body is busy letting me down at the moment, but at least the stomach is better thanks. The remnants of Dorian have also arrived here too, so the dog probably won't get a walk today.

Should get Johnny finished today. Really enjoying working at this scale as it suits my eyes - great to be able to really get at the detail.

Thank you chaps.

I always remember the furore I caused with one of my early builds on another site, where I had apparently painted a Luftwaffe life-vest too yellow. The uniform police were not happy and gave me hell about it. Since then, I've approached life vests with trepidation, though Vallejo Buff highlighted with Light Yellow seems to be acceptable.

Heeeeeeere's Johnny:

I started with the uniform today: Vallejo Luftwaffe Uniform mixed with Black, German Grey and Off White. Then it was on to finishing the Mae West - a lot more fiddly detail to put in, then further shading and highlighting.

Probably Pappy next......

This is certainly a step up in your painting style. Very subtle toning and extra colours in the face. Can I suggest a triple base like I made up for these old busts. The base is a plumbing joint with the end blocked in.

Gabriel on the way after Dorian, but milder weather too, could be an "Indian" summer?

All the health checks are doable when you think of the alternative!

What a super bust, really subtle colours and contrasts with a great head.

It really has given your painting skills a superb canvas.

It makes me realise how lucky I am to be the owner of 4 original pieces of your work

Lets hope the next 2 are just as good to paint

Have a good day with the paints and the weather too

John - Thank you, a great idea and some lovely work on display. A cabinet cull will be called for to create space.

Steve - Glad you like Johnny. I have to admit that my bust work is often better than my 1/16 figures - perhaps I'll have to accept the eyesight aspect. A day of heat here apparently; what madness.

I'll start Pappy's face today. Looking at it last night I detect problems around the eyes yet again. Also looks nothing like the subject.
