Well, it’s more use as a cabbage than as a tankIf I'd got a cabbage looking like that, I'd put it in the bin
Tim. I like that color it really stands out great updates…and now it’s as green as Kermit……

This was just two 4BO shades, dark one from below, normal one from above, followed by an oil paint dry brush using a shade mixed from sap green and titanium white….track has just had a coat of dilute VJ German cam black brown.
Still have to pin wash it, and maybe add some restrained streaking…..the armour plate texture is actually poor spray technique, but it looks OK so I’m leaving it alone. The tank was two weeks old at the trials, so chipping won’t be in evidence…..and the ground was frozen, so no mud……it will get sooty barrels though….
Cheers Allen. Mojo has gone south due to world events, nothing else. I think when I’m off the Russian steppes and back on home turf I’ll be back to normal…..Great work Tim! Sorry to hear about the Mojo though.....Hope it pops back up soon as you've put some hard work into this. KV wheels were steel all the way. T-34's had rubber tires. Tracks look really good too. Modulation giving probs maybe???

Thanks Lee. Again, I’m not really familiar with 4BO, but it looks like the box art, so that’s a plusTim. I like that color it really stands out great updates
Do feel bad neither am I I’m just going to get mine close and go with it.Thanks Lee. Again, I’m not really familiar with 4BO, but it looks like the box art, so that’s a plus
Cheers PaulTim,
The tracks look good mate.
They had steel tyres, with a rubber section between the rim and the main body of the wheel. Basically the same design as the “steel” wheels for the German Panther, Tiger and Tiger II, who probably copied it from the Russians. I don’t think the rubber part is even visible from the outside.Question for those in the know….did KV wheels have rubber tyres? It looks like they are bare steel, but I don’t want to highlight wear points and someone helpfully point out that they had rubber outers….
Thanks Jim. I appreciate the sentiment and am really pleased by your support for my efforts.Hi Tim
Any caring, intelligent, thinking person is bound to be affected by the things going on at the moment so no wonder your mojo is low.
Tracks are looking good.
Jim
Cheers Rick. The tracks are really simple done this way, and Vallejo black brown is a great base for track metal. The colour has a slight purple base to it which matches pretty well to the track colours I noticed at Bovington. The 6B pencil is fantastic as well. Really easy to use and if you need it as a pigment, just rub it on 400 wet and dry. Far cheaper than pre packaged stuff. The secret is to use a soft lead like 6B, HB is a bit hard and can take off the paint!Tracks are the Bomb "Timmo".......I have all the ingredients for your track recipe and will be trying it out on my SU-100's. Thanks for the "tip". Chin up mate.......you'll be back to yard gnomes before you know it!! Rick H.
As long as I don’t have to paint it, then it’s all gravy Jakko Bet they were noisy in use though…..They had steel tyres, with a rubber section between the rim and the main body of the wheel. Cheers John. More squeal than a bag full of Guinea pigs then LOL.Tim nice track work. As for using rubber on the road rollers looking at photos in Steven J Zaloga and Jim Kinnear book KV1 & 2 no. just steel .As Jakko has just mentioned there may well have been a rubber section , but from the photos is hard to see.
Sorry Jakko, but I see no way you could insert any type of rubber into or onto the KV series cast steel road wheels. Maybe on the late JS (IS) series, but not on the KV's. If you have any documentation for this on the KV series, Please post it here if Tim won't mind.
